Given the changes in information dissemination, I have been encouraged to blog. The same consultants who have encouraged blogging have also encouraged providing personal information.
I’m Dr. James Pappas, M.D. and I have been in private orthopaedic practice for over 20 years. 16 years were spent as a partner in a large group practice and the more recent years have been spent growing a solo orthopaedic practice.
I was born and raised in Reno. My medical training spanned 11 years, 4 years of medical school at the University of Nevada and 7 years of surgical training at the University of South Florida and Vanderbilt University. The last year of training was dedicated to specialty training in arthroscopic surgery and sports medicine.
I returned to Reno following my specialty training and my original practice was more broad based but in just a few years the emphasis became sports medicine and arthroscopy. I have been fortunate enough to be the team physician for several area high schools and in addition, for 10 years I was the team physician for the University of Nevada Wolf Pack.
My practice, which is named Active Sports Medicine, represents those experiences. The knowledge gained is applied to all ages of patients with varied interests. The common thread is people with orthopaedic injuries who want to remain active. I am committed to keeping my patients active.
