Twice a month, Dr. Pappas does what most consider unthinkable: he loads the truck, hits the road and takes his practice to patients in Elko, Battle Mountain and Winnemucca. It’s a commitment Jim’s honored for the past eight years, an appointment no other non-hospital orthopedic surgeon offers. Why the effort? Because knees wear down, shoulders go sideways and things go bump in the desert just as often — if not more — as they do in the city. And when that happens, quality care becomes a necessity, rather than a luxury. Any surgical procedures that arise are handled in Reno, but Jim’s pre-op and post-op visits are just minutes away for rural Nevadans, a far more convenient option than driving up to 300 miles there and 300 back.
